I have over thirty years' experience as a recruitment and sourcing specialist in the Irish market. I have worked with large and small organisations alike and seen first hand the hows and how nots of successful recruitment. I enjoy what I do (obviously after over 20 years) and much of that has to do with dealing one on one with people and being able to directly help them change their careers and lives. My goal would be to see our industry offer more in the way of added value. More often than not the perception of the recruitment industry in the Irish market is not good and some of that sentiment being well founded though I would love to see more control being taken by employers on what is acceptable and what is not from their recruiter. I am unable to count the times I've been told over the years " It's our policy to deal with the first cv we receive in the event we receive multiple applications from one individual" How many times have I got burned for doing the job right.
I would also like to see more control on technology and whether we allow it to govern what we do or actually enhance our core skills.
Specialties: Technical recruitment, always has been always will be. Love dealing with engineers etc! communication and decision making is transparent. Senior management appointments are also becoming a key area. I enjoy finding out what makes people tick and where they'll tick best. For this you need to talk straight and cut to the chase. People need to trust me and tell me information they might not reveal to a potential employer.
